This class is intended for children between the ages of 7 and 12. Sessions are held at our Hurricane Community Campus from 9:30AM-10:30 on the mentioned dates. In this hands-on Homesteading class, young learners will dive into the world of self-sufficiency, sustainability, and connecting with nature. Through engaging activities, they’ll develop essential skills while fostering a love for the land and a sense of independence

Meet Your Homesteading Instructor: Jessica Houchens

Jessica Houchens is a passionate homesteader and dedicated educator with a wealth of knowledge and experience in sustainable living. She has transformed her own homestead into a thriving oasis, where she enjoys gardening, raising chickens, and embracing the joys of self-sufficiency. She is a devoted mother of four and an active member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she teaches Sunday school, and her husband serves as a deacon. Join Jess in her homesteading class and embark on a journey to discover the joys of self-sufficiency, gardening, and animal care. Her hands-on approach and infectious enthusiasm will inspire and empower you to create your own homesteading haven.
